Some Thoughts on Bunker play.
Don’t you hate bunkers?
If you are good at getting out of them, you don’t.
This means that you only hate them if you have difficulty playing out of them.
With bunker play, the first and only object is to get the ball onto the green.
It is a mistake to try to get the ball too near the hole unless you are really expert as are the professional golfers. By being too smart, you can leave your ball in the sand.
You will probably finish on the green some distance from the hole. Perhaps nearer, perhaps further than where your pitch would have finished had it found the green.
You need two puts to put your ball into the hole.
You would have needed two puts to finish from where your pitch stopped on the green. So the most it should cost you for being in the bunker is one shot.
When you think like this, you will lose your fear of bunkers.
In my Golfers’_On_line Hand Book, I will tell you in detail how to get out of a bunker in a simple way. Coming soon.
